About
Hiep joined the Director's Guild of Canada in 2011 after an extensive commercial and broadcast career. He has since worked as a 1st Assistant Art Director on 250+ hours of production for over 15 production designers. Hiep’s motion playback graphics reflect all of the screens in our daily lives (TV news, show opens, video games, online content, phone apps), as well as sci-fi and fantasy (spaceship dashboards, superhero gadgets, hacking, AI, zoom-ins from space). Hiep’s early days in broadcasting working on promos, bumpers and station IDs taught him how to edit content down to the frame, milking every moment of screen time. Now a seasoned film and TV designer, Hiep's motion graphics are always in motion, and routinely evolve from background monitors to story-driven hero screens. Hiep can handle 10+ screens per scene, controlling the look and feel of the elements he produces. And he is comfortable delivering completed motion graphics to Set for use during filming, or supervising the pipeline to Post on playback-heavy shows. Hiep expanded into Print Graphics in 2013, and can now deliver whatever it takes to quickly move the storytelling along, be it prop labels, packaging design, vehicle wraps, period graphics or large-scale signage. Always looking for new and exciting job opportunities, Hiep welcomes the opportunity to work on playback-heavy shows but also enjoys detailed work such as print packaging.
